Leaving a Legacy

One way of helping the Parish financially is to include a legacy to the Parish in your Will. Many adults die without a valid Will, which results in their estates being allocated according to the law, instead of according to their wishes.

​As a Will is a legal document it is best to get the advice of a Solicitor to make your instructions legally valid. A legacy to a charity such as the Parish may also reduce any liability to Inheritance Tax. 

​If you would like to leave a gift to the Parish in your Will, we suggest the following wording that can be used or amended by your Solicitor.

“I give and bequeath to the Parish of Saint Teresa of Avila, Glen Road, Belfast, BT11 8BL, Registered Charity No 103983, the sum of £……. to be applied to general purposes of the Parish and I declare that the receipt of the Parish Priest shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors.”
