The question for a disciple is: what do you value, what would make you sell everything you own to possess it? A hard question that might take a lifetime to answer. For the true disciple, the only thing of any importance is a relationship with Christ and that can only be achieved through the silence of prayer, Christ’s heart speaking to your heart. God’s eternal Word has no interest in what we can buy or sell, far from it. We are called to possess only what Jesus can give: the grace of the Spirit that directs our lives. (Fr S Crumptor).
