| Sunday Gospel Today the Birthday of the Church is celebrated, we celebrate the gift of the Spirit and the fruits that are given because of the Father’s love for each one of us. The first disciples were told not to be afraid because Jesus knew that once fear is cast out from our lives, we can enjoy the fulness of God’s love and mercy. Witnesses to the Resurrection are people on a journey, they have purpose and a destination. Our purpose is to pray and to love, to show our charity to those around us. One command that Jesus gave was to forgive: ‘for those sins you forgive, they are forgiven’. The Good News calls us to be forgivers, we pray that we may have the courage to let fear be cast out to bring forgiveness to others. Sunday Masses Church of the Holy Spirit (Sat.) St Vincent De Paul Helpline No. 028 90351561: Email address: info@svpni.co.uk Website address: www.svp.ie/get-help.aspx A Prayer for the Earth, from Laudato Si’ 246: All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one. O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction. Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace. |
