Today, on the Third Sunday of Advent (also known as Gaudete Sunday) we lit the third candle on the Advent Wreath.

The third candle, which is pink in colour, is called the Candle of Joy. 

“Fear not, for I bring you good news of great joy” (Luke 2:10).

The name Gaudete Sunday comes from the Latin word Gaudete, which means “Rejoice”
