The Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity “Be united; live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.” (2 Cor 13:11)

Last weekend Bishop Donal McKeown wrote to us about the possibilities and challenge facing the Church in Down & Connor in the years ahead.  His letter certainly got attention – particularly where he talked about the difficult decisions and sacrifices, we have to make as congregations get smaller and the number of priests fall. But that’s not the whole story by any means!  We believe in the Good News of Jesus Christ, and there is always good news in the Church.  In the pastoral letter a vision is set out of a Church which faces up to the profound changes we’re living through, that seeks to go out and make new disciples, and which welcomes everyone into a relationship with God.  This is a courageous vision that will require us to look at how we are structured as a church.  The Pathways to the Future Committee are developing ideas on how we can collaborate across our parishes as Families of Parishes.   In families of parishes, we will see a new range of ministries develop in which lay people will play a crucial role.  If we want to pass on the faith to the next generation, to see our congregations grow again, to see Catholics making a real difference in the community and to nourish new vocations to religious life, we have to do things differently – and we all have a part to play!  On Trinity Sunday, may the Father, Son and Holy Spirit bless us as we take the first steps on our pathway to the future. To find out more we encourage you to read Bishop Donal McKeown’s Pastoral Letter available on www.downandconnor.org or www.pathwaystothefuture.org

Invitation to a screening of ‘The Letter’ –   Date: Wednesday 7th June 2023. Venue: St Teresa’s Parish Centre, Glen Road.

Time: 7 pm. Join our Parish Community on Wednesday 7th June in St Teresa’s Parish Centre, Glen Road, to view the most recent documentary featuring Pope Francis and meet over a cup of coffee/tea afterwards.

Over 30 million people worldwide have already viewed ‘The Letter’ – people of all faiths and people of no faith, united by their desire/interest in caring for our common home – the earth and those who live upon this earth. The documentary charts a meeting of four individuals from across the globe, invited by Pope Francis to Rome to tell their very personal stories – from India, Senegal, Hawaii, and the Brazilian Amazon.   It poses very urgent and pertinent questions for each one of us, especially as we emerge from the Covid Pandemic, as to how we wish to live our lives knowing that our actions impact upon others often in far corners of the earth.   This is the start of a global conversation based on the messages contained within the encyclical letter “Laudato Si’’.  The screening lasts approximately 80 minutes. Please let us know if you are able to join us by contacting Peter Mc Alister e-mail ppmcalister@yahoo.com and/or turn up on the evening. Let your friends know – everyone is welcome.
